Can I take Allopurinol and Ramipril together?

Both medicines can affect the immune system and how the kidneys filter waste. When used together, they can cause the body to overreact (hypersensitivity) or slow down the production of blood cells. Additionally, allopurinol may slightly increase the levels of ramipril in the blood.

You can take these together, but your doctor should monitor you closely, especially when starting the treatment or changing doses. Seek medical help immediately if you develop a skin rash, hives, swelling of the face or throat, or a fever. Alcohol can increase the blood pressure-lowering effect of ramipril, which may make you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint, especially when you first start taking the medicine or when your dose is increased. It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol.
