Substance abuse treatment

The medicines in this section include those which are used to help people stop a harmful, problematic habit such as smoking or drinking. They include treatments like acamprosate, used to help people when they are stopping harmful drinking, or smoking cessation medicines like bupropion and nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). Opiate medicines such as buprenorphine and methadone are used to help people stay away from heroin.
